A remarkable collection that masterfully combines human experience, spirituality, and artistic sensibility

Two things struck me throughout the book: (1) How profound some of the poems are, as they touch upon human experience at the universal level. (2) The fresh, raw, honesty of the narrative. Ms. Nyambi is a masterful story teller, and she does an excellent job gracefully weaving together spirituality with art.

The collection is divided into three sections, each of which focuses on one of the three spiritual gifts: Faith, Hope, and Love. Each section contains its own jewels, but my favorite happens to be the third (Love), with such poems as "Beautiful Jane," "My Brother, Our Dreamer," and "Hi Birthday Baby!"

Shoot Down the Wendy Bird is an excellent book of short stories and poetry. Julie is able to grab the reader within the first sentence and able to make the reader care about her characters. That caring makes the reader want more, which they get throughout each story. Wonderful read.

Intriguing, captivating and incredibly well written

Julie writes the hell out of this book. I don't read many books - and I say that as a writer myself - so to tell you that this book is extremely well written and SO well done that it kept me interested enough to just keep reading it from start to finish? Well, that is saying something. Intriguing, captivating and amazingly well thought out, "Wendy Bird" is a fantastic read.

Julie has always always impressed me as both a professional and as a friend. If you're familiar with her works in her magazine, The Indie Chick, and on her own social networking sites and blog, then you are in for a great treat with "Shoot Down the Wendy Bird." I am amazingly proud of Julie and the caliber of work she has put out - I hope she wins a billion writing awards for this. She deserves it, and you deserve to read it for yourself.

Simple, brilliant, powerful..totally Relatable!!

I love that the main character is me or you, it's all of us! You feel to some degree like it was written about you. I smiled as I read the last page and thought to myelf , this feeling of Deja vu just validates that I'm not the only one that does things that even I don't understand and that it's still OK to live life on my own terms! This is one of those books you want to keep handy, just to remind yourself it's OK to be you. Can't wait for the next one!

and I like to give it time to sit with me

This is a poetry collection about not being okay, and about dealing with that until you can recover. It’s about being human and loving others and loving yourself. It’s about sadness and hope.

I don’t tend to read poetry quickly. It’s something I’m unused to, compared to novels, and I like to give it time to sit with me. I like to make sure I’m understanding and taking it all in, and it’s common for me to read only a few pages at a time. But there was something about this collection that I couldn’t let go of. It was captivating and hard to put down and I read it in two sittings.

That’s not to say that I didn’t absorb this the way I usually like to, because I read the majority of these poems three times over before continuing to the next. I got lost in them, I wanted to remember them, they all felt so touching and true. I sometimes had a hard time flipping the page, moving onto the next set of words, because I wanted to live in this one poem forever. And then I was amazed when it happened again on the next page, and a few pages after that, and the next after that.

This has become a new favorite of mine, and I know for a fact I’ll be rereading it, probably multiple times. Whereas I usually highlight a few lines while reading poetry, I’m kind of glad that this ebook format didn’t allow for it, because I found entire poems that I would have highlighted-my highlights probably would have covered most of the book.

A Beautiful Read

What a wonderful collection of poems! I was very lucky to get a copy of this book from the publishers in exchange for a review. I had seen the the collection going around twitter and was hoping to get a copy eventually. Then this opportunity came along and after being able to read it I want to buy a copy more than ever.

Howling at the Moon is not a long collection, just over a 100 pages. It's filled with lines like "Love is the way your body fights to keep you alive / Day after day." or like this:

"There’s this ache in my chest
that I keep trying to write,
but there are some things that just
cannot be put into words.
The moonlight, for example.
Or the way the birds sound
when you wake up in the
morning despite thinking
the past night would
be your last."

Darshana's poetry is achingly beautiful, full of every emotion imaginable. It's sometimes soft, and sometimes hard. It's everything you could want in a poetry book. It's inspiring. I read the entire collection in one day, but I've been going back to it every day since to read snippets here and there. I'm in love with it and I think you will be too. Go buy it, read it and consider reviewing it.

Hope for pain sufferers.

Life throws many curves at us. Dottie learned that sometimes the emotional pain stays in our bodies in ways that we can't begin to understand from a traditional medical perspective. Her honest and moving memoir shows us a path to release the pain from our bodies and our emotions. Thanks for your courage in writing your story.

Dottie DuParce's book is such an honest look at her life and how she finally found relief from her struggles through Myofascial Release treatment. As an MFR practitioner, I was intrigued to see chronic pain through her eyes in her trials and then triumphs, and then to read about her journey to become a therapist herself to help others. Comprehensive and well researched

Tips for Workplace Psychology is a comprehensive and well-researched assessment to be used to increase your effectiveness based upon how you interact with people at work.

The chapters are laid out well and there are references throughout the book of the research behind the points that Miller makes.

While the book is not lengthy, it is very full of information that can be applied to a broad range of situations.

The difference between 4 and 5 stars on this book for me would be to have broken out some of the key actions and takeaways as top level bullets followed by the deeper explanation and research. There are some scenarios that are more relevant to me than others. These I would likely want to read about in more details. Others I would probably prefer only knowing high level points about. I found towards the end of this book I was having fewer takeaways in my reading based upon the length and volume of the supporting information provided.

I think this book is a good reference that people can learn from in multiple kinds of work settings.

simplistic overview on workplace phsychology

An overview of a lot of phrases used in workplace psychology. Totally useless for anyone looking for a guide to actaully navigate workplace politics. Too simplistic for supervisors except if you are completely clueless and want to be exposed to some terms so you know what to look for. Nothing practical on how to implement. Apparently written by academic who never dealt with real world organizational issues. It assumes supervisors have authority to redesign job roles and organizational structure. For larger corporations structure is usually set by people who are familiar with these buzz words and a touch of practicality.

Might be good for a small business/ entrepreneur who has stumbled into business and has no idea about how he/ she should treat employees; but anyone that clueless is unlikely to be business success and those who are successful tend to be too egotistical to take outside advice.

I am Oscar Kamazima, a young man from Tanzania, residing in Columbus, Ohio, and driven by the art of poetry, loved ones, and God. I was raised by a family that strengthened my faith even in the midst of life's obstacles. While I am currently a full-time student with part-time employment, I've dedicated a lot of my time to writing poetry. My work has evolved significantly overtime due to life's changes and the inspiration from my mentors, who have helped me tremendously along the way. Poetry has allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings in ways whereby others can relate and see what goes on in my mind. My parents have always been a huge part of my life, and sharing my work to the world is one way I can give back to them.

Excellent Visions

This is a very exciting and ambitious work by a interesting new voice in poetry. Especially good are the poems "Changes" and "Opening Minds," but every poem contains some surprises for the reader. This poet is very good at what Allen Ginsberg called "the alchemy of ellipsis"; that is, unifying two completely unexpected images or ideas. For instance, a poem might have the image of "tectonic plates" followed soon after by "Humpty Dumpty," creating a connection in the reader's mind that is very original.

Stuck in a swamp, living inside the mouth of an alligator.

About the Author
Patricia Schnering is an adjunct instructor of HIM at St. Petersburg College, and serves on its advisory board. In addition to experience as an HIM supervisor and consultant, she is the founder and owner of PRG Publishing Inc., where she published the first Professional Review Guides. Ms. Schnering has served as president of GCHIMA and on FHIMA's board of directors, where she twice received the FHIMA Literary Award. She is also a member of AHIMA and the Assembly on Education (AOE). In addition to a B.S.in business administration from the University of South Florida, she is a graduate of the health information management program at St. Petersburg College, and holds both CCS and RHIA certifications.

Not proper for CCA

SERIOUSLY READ THIS BEFORE BUYING. I just graduated from an AHIMA certified school teaching towards the CCA and the CPC. I bought this book and it's first chapter was review, the second regarding Health Data and Standards left me confused and scratching my head. It has specific questions about Joint Comissions standards, and questions referencing hospital indexes, information all NOT included on the CCA test. Don't buy this book. It seems to be a prep book geared more towards the CCS rather than the CCA.

An excellent reference book for CCA exam and I used it to pass my exam in Jan 2016. The coding content of the website should upgrade to ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.

Best poetry book ever written, period.

I've read a few of his books now, and was impressed with him as an author, but this one literally takes the cake and eats it too. It is extremely emotional and sad at times, but so uplifting and funny as well. Most importantly, the writing is flat out magical. It's hard for me to even try and imagine where a writing talent like this even comes from.
