Serene Pristine (birthname Jasmine) is an American poet, artist, photographer, and concert promoter. Her work has been published in chap books, and zines such as Radical Softness, curated by Lora Mathis. Serene started sharing her writing on her blog in 2011, before publishing several small collections, once freely available on her ISSUU page (including an earlier incarnation of Poetry for Capricorns). Common themes in Serene's poetry include astrology, literary and musical references, nature, isolation, and infatuation. This is her first book.

Capricorn Blue

Poetry for Capricorns is about love: erotic and, if not unrequited then not requited nearly enough. But it is about the love of words, as well. Serene Pristine's phrasing is confident and original and the poems, though each stands alone, whisper to one another, speaking of Saturn, Capricorn's ruling planet, and charting the distances, colored emotions, and silences between lover and beloved.
The poet reveals a subtle voice, wise and articulate. She writes, "I am ink. / A slanted and cursive style. / No one can run from ink / that blue." Sometimes it's best to stand still and let the blue wash over you.
