Brilliant, from monster to mortal

This remarkable debut book approaches the attentive mind as wind over forgotten water, reshaping the contours of memory, curling through simple arcs a vision of waves in arabesque. Thus are the recurrent cycles of history and desire transmuted by these poems into superlative art. Melissa Dickson Blackburn's range of invention here is astonishing and formally masterful, invoking a kind of stlyized sonnet system in which the poems both anticipate and rediscover their traces in a shimmer of self disclosure. I find delightful both her cacapcity to chart the harmonic overtones of every voice in this text and her fearless deployment of that hard music. This is a serious, searching, extrarodinary book from a truly elegant imagination. Cameo is a singularly thrilling achievement.

Poetry for the Non-Poet

I wasn't sure what to expect from Cameo. Would the poems be incomprehensibly modern? I don't like those. I hoped she wouldn't use references I didn't know--and there are a lot of those.
What I got was a volume of lovely, readable poems often seasoned with a pinch of humor. Like delightful "Warrior Court" which manages to touch on the Civil War, family 'secrets' and, "Now hitting for the Braves," Gary 'Sarge' Matthews.
This is poetry that is both lyrical and accessible. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm not a person normally drawn to poetry, but Cameo is the exception. Melissa Dickson Blackburn's background as a painter/visual artist is apparent in her poetry. She paints vivid pictures with her words, allowing this non-poet writer access to a medium I usually struggle with. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.

I chose this book because the table of contents looked appealing. When I started reading the book, I found each and every chapter or section includes only a couple of short paragraphs. There are no useful details at all. This is not a book, just 30 pages of summary. I am so mad. Don't waste your money on this junk.

This very short publication is poorly written and organized. No details on the topics. Rather it's just a collection of related articles. And the title is misleading. I don't think the author understands what mindset is. This is more on mindfulness and NLP. Invest more money and read a better book.

I like this book it educates me about using essential oils in aromatherapy. At first I thought aromatherapy is more about fragrances that smell good but now I learned a lot of it from this book. I learned the health benefits of using aromatherapy in the body that it can relieve stress, help in reduction of sensation in pain, and many more. I highly recommend this book to everyone because it's useful and reading this book will convince you to use essential oils in treating bodily problems. There are also different essential oils and carrier oils given inside the book and essential oil recipes that you can do at home. So, have a copy of this book.

Great book!

Great book! This book has not only a huge amount of recipes, but also you will learn the history of occurrence of essential oils (aromatic oils) in ancient Egypt, China, Roma and India. The author points out that it is very important to use essential oils and carefully follow the recipes in the preparation of essential oils. I completely agree with him! I am pleased to recommend this book to all fans of a healthy lifestyle.

Well structured table of content. The text is clear and easy to read.

A lot useful information from history and how essential oils produced, advices how to blend, store and use oils. The many benefits from using oils described in details. Chapter about carrier oils with all information about them was a pleasant surprise for me. And recipes of course! You will find remedies for health, mood, beauty, home or even pets.

This book is an informative and enlightening introduction for every oil user!

A truly inspiring story that makes you think about how little the elderly are truly thought about in today's society. Everyone needs to read this book in order to open their eyes on how the so called "Justice System" treats the people that need their help the most. The author states that one day it could be you that gets a pill shoved down your throat and drained of your life's hard work; in order for the ones that are supposed to protect you to become even more filthy rich than they already are. By reading this book at least you'll be able to spot it coming and find ways to protect yourself; because no one else is.

About the Author
Diane Wise is a sixty-two year old wife and mother writing her first book. She has been married forty years and had two sons, Mark and Jason. She has been a stay-at-home wife and mom throughout her married life. Her sons grew and married, blessing her with four grandchildren. She had a love for antiques, refinishing and decorating. Now, her first love is the Lord. She first began to journal with her salvation at age fifty-one. Then with the untimely death of her youngest son, she has begun the healing process with these outpourings of comfort from the Lord. Her hope is if you know the Lord you will be blessed as you read, if you know Him not, you will be drawn to Him and if you are grieving for a loved one, you will find a measure of comfort in these whispers from her heart.

Woven Tapestry of Life

This book of poetry is a personal look into one woman's heart as she shares her salvation experience, her loving relationship with God, the untimely death of her youngest son, and the comfort God has given her during her walk through grief.

If you are like me and many others, you will not be able to put this book down until you read it through to the end. You will want to read it again and again as you take hold of her thoughts and feelings and the captivating insight she has gained by choosing to focus totally and wholly on God and His mercy and grace instead of becoming bitter by her circumstances.

My favorite poem is Kaleidoscope found on page 77. Diane uses a metaphor of the broken, colored glass and mirrored walls of a kaleidoscope to explain how God can take hold of the pain and sorrows of life and turn them into a beautiful, intricate managerie of beauty. "Without the brokeness, there would be no beauty at all . . . Just one piece of solid glass", she says in her poem.

This book is inspiring for anyone going through a difficult situation or for anyone who has wondered if there is more to life than what we experience here on earth.

truly a handy guide to the actual scenario of Operating Room from preparation to recovery

I had undergone CS operations before, so basically, I had my share of experience about those discussed items upon arrival in ER. And during those times, I asked myself why there was a need for those interview questions. The author did an awesome job in explaining what to expect upon admittance to the ER and part of that is the need for the information that would be recorded by the staffs/nurse in the ER. When reading the book, you are as if in the actual ER, I imagine all that would happen because the author was able to narrate the story just as clearly that any ordinary person be able to understand. The ideas were presented as if you are just talking with some friend, casually discussing what happens from the ER to operating room to recovery.

I recommend this book to people who wants to be aware on what to prepare or expect during that operation day, this book will definitely guide you on the actual scenario rather than just having high hopes or expectations. The good thing about relying on actual scenario (which I said the book has presented) is that you don't get disappointed, you get emotionally and physically prepared prior to the day and during the actual day of your operation.

Supportive and essential for the patient and family who are going to face an open heart surgery

Personally I loathe hearing medical words and definitions, even if it’s a serious illness. I mean what’s the point when I can’t understand half of it. This book is a relief from all the Googling I did on this subject.
In some places different tips and situations, or ‘additions’ and such things are included. For example there was one defining a situation where the father sends his son to get blood drawn instead of him since he is afraid of needles. To complicate matters more, bother father and son had the same names. Luckily before the surgery this was found out, surgery cancelled and the father sent for his own blood test.

This is written in simple English (i.e. no big medical terms) and would be an essential read for both the patient and their family to get a better impression of the surgery and their situation.

This book is an eye opener and educating. I was never aware of how many pre-op test there are for open-heart surgery. I have learned that a CT scan also called the Cardiac Computerized Tomography test is essentially an x-ray of your heart. What is also interesting about this test is that with the aid of a computer, this test combines several x-ray images to produce a cross section of your heart. That is why I love this book! It educates the reader on numerous diagnosis,pre-tests and preparation for open heart surgery. Also I loved how fast this book was delivered to my digital library so i can begin reading. I suggest you buy this book thank you and god bless.

3. In emergency situations even the most experienced physicians can make of mistakes by bypassing and or from inattention to detail.
4. To increase the baseline of performance at hospitals different studies have explored the use of checklists in critical situations.
5. The check lists have met resistance , however they help balance the power in the surgical room allowing the nurse to question the doctor. In ensuring everything is fully ready for surgery.
6.The best check lists are efficient and can be completed quickly, but comprehensive enough to address all , or most , emerging complexities and variables.
7. When communication is part of the checklist, it creates a sense of investment and participation. Boosting teams over all performance.
8. Despite the proven results many in the medical field continue to resist.

Most high impact and or stressful fields do have check lists they must perform before starting work. Such as over the road drivers, flight attendants etc. One small detail missed can change the outcome of their lives and others. It is a shame that the medical field physicians would resist something so simple and easy to do. Yes it would take a few extra minutes. But what does those minutes save? Errors have cost an estimated 150,000 deaths a year. Many of which could of been prevented with the check lists in place. Although I received this item at a free and or a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review, it does not change my opinion on product.
