Check lists can save lives

The checklist manifesto key takeaways and analysis is a short 37 book that covers the key points of the original book written in 2009. Non fiction investigation into human fallibility in high stake environment such as hospitals and emergency rooms. The key points are as listed
1. Two reasons for doctors failing in medicine - ignorance and ineptitude
2. Advancements in all industries can be overwhelming
3. In emergency situations even the most experienced physicians can make of mistakes by bypassing and or from inattention to detail.
4. To increase the baseline of performance at hospitals different studies have explored the use of checklists in critical situations.
5. The check lists have met resistance , however they help balance the power in the surgical room allowing the nurse to question the doctor. In ensuring everything is fully ready for surgery.
6.The best check lists are efficient and can be completed quickly, but comprehensive enough to address all , or most , emerging complexities and variables.
7. When communication is part of the checklist, it creates a sense of investment and participation. Boosting teams over all performance.
8. Despite the proven results many in the medical field continue to resist.
Most high impact and or stressful fields do have check lists they must perform before starting work. Such as over the road drivers, flight attendants etc. One small detail missed can change the outcome of their lives and others. It is a shame that the medical field physicians would resist something so simple and easy to do. Yes it would take a few extra minutes. But what does those minutes save? Errors have cost an estimated 150,000 deaths a year. Many of which could of been prevented with the check lists in place. Although I received this item at a free and or a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review, it does not change my opinion on product.

This is an overview of the actual book “The Checklist.“ Kind of like an abbreviated Cliff's Notes for the full book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding this book’s content to determine if we want to invest the extra money and time to actually buy and read the entire book. I personally bought, read and Amazon-reviewed the full original book a couple of months ago rating it 5-Star. This synopsis gives you a good accounting of some of the important information the full book actually contains.
