This is very helpful information. As the author righteously stated, sometimes with the information provided by our doctors, it can be very overwhelming. I am grateful that the author saw the need for this information and took action to write this book.

With this information, I can easily refer to this book whenever my husband and I are required to do any medical test. I got a copy of this book when it was on its free promotion, I am happy that I did. It is normally sold for $2.99 that was much cheaper than other similar books.

You can't go wrong with Lionel

It is a very nicely done book, the pictures, diagrams, and charts are colorful and easy to read

The material is summarized so no long paragraphs to read, everything is in bullet format

If you want even more value from this book, find the Becker eCoach lectures online and listen along with Lionel as he breaks down Pharm for the USMLE Step 1

But my favorite part of the book is the type of paper used is excellent. Not glossy at all so no smudging of even the most runny pens and pretty thick so no bleed thru.

For $60 it is a pretty solid investment considering it comes from the god of pharmacology himself Lionel Raymon

About the Author
Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace was born illegitimately in Greenwich, London, in 1875 to actors Mary Jane Richards and T.H. Edgar. As an infant he was adopted by George Freeman, a porter at Billingsgate fish market. Aged eleven, Wallace sold newspapers at Ludgate Circus and upon leaving school took a job with a printer. He later enlisted in the Royal West Kent Regiment, before transferring to the Medical Staff Corps, and was sent to South Africa. In 1898, he published a collection of poems called 'The Mission that Failed', and subsequently left the army to become correspondent for Reuters. South African war correspondent for 'The Daily Mail' followed and his articles were later published as 'Unofficial Dispatches'. His outspokenness infuriated Lord Kitchener, who removed his credentials. He then edited the 'Rand Daily Mail', but gambled disastrously on the South African Stock Market. Returning to England, Wallace at first reported on crimes and hanging trials, before becoming editor of 'The Evening News'. It was in 1905 that he founded the Tallis Press, publishing 'Smithy', a collection of soldier stories, and 'The Four Just Men'. The latter was published with the ending removed as an advertising stunt and he offered oe500 to readers who could successfully guess the ending. Unfortunately, many did and he was almost bankrupted. At various times Wallace also worked as a journalist on 'The Standard', 'The Star', 'The Week-End Racing Supplement' and 'The Story Journal'. In 1917, he became a Special Constable at Lincoln's Inn and also a special interrogator for the War Office. The Daily Mail sent Wallace to investigate atrocities in the Belgian Congo, a trip that provided material for his 'Sanders of the River' books. In 1923, he became Chairman of the Press Club and in 1931 stood as a Liberal Parliamentary candidate for Blackpool. Wallace's first marriage in 1901 to Ivy Caldecott, daughter of a missionary, ended in divorce in 1918 and he later married his much younger secretary, Violet King. Along with countless articles, some 23 screenplays and many short stories, Wallace wrote more than 170 books, which have been translated into 28 languages and sales of which have exceeded 50 million copies. Over 160 films have been made from his books - more than any other author. In the 1920's one of Wallace's many publishers claimed that a quarter of all books read in England were written by him. His sales were exceeded only by 'The Bible'. He died in 1932 whilst working on the screenplay for 'King Kong', having moved to Hollywood after being offered a contract by RKO.

"The Square Emerald" is a great Edgar Wallace mystery. Good plot, good characters and a very satisfying ending. I had not read any Edgar Wallace until recently and decided to read some of his novels in German to prepare for a trip to Germany. I read that Wallace was extremely popular in Great Britain during the 1920's; at one time, it was said that of all the books being read, one fourth of them were written by Edgar Wallace. I also have read in German several other of Wallace's mysteries, and every one was a winner.

Complete Rubbish

This is a worthless self-published piece of garbage. I thought I was purchasing the most updated AHA ACLS guidelines; this is definitely not that. It turns out that it is written by a nurse whose other titles include Nurses' Romance Series and How to Make a Million in Nursing. Apparently this nurse can make a lot of money by self-publishing a piece of trash and selling it to unsuspecting professionals (who are only trying to keep their hospital credentials updated) for $40. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!

CAVEAT EMPTOR. As soon as I finish this review I will be contacting Amazon to see if I can return this book for a refund. As a healthcare professional I cannot emphasize enough that this book is a complete rip-off to anybody hoping for a useful ACLS reference/study guide, and I would not recommend it even as an introduction for the layperson.

Layout -- this book is close to 90 pages. If you took out the double-spacing and overly large font I suspect it would be closer to 25 pages.

Editing -- nonexistent. This "manual" is rife with mistakes, spelling errors, formatting mistakes, and incorrect information. My suspicion is that this is the author's notes from an ACLS course she took at some point in the past, with minimal effort spent correcting the shorthand and double-checking for missing information.

Content -- this book is missing more information on ACLS than it contains. If you rely on this book for an ACLS course you will fail. Guaranteed. ACLS is all about choosing the correct algorithm for different codes (tachycardias, bradycardias, PEA, asystole, MI...) and this book provides zero information on the approach to each of those conditions. There is no information on the medications, doses, and modifications to your approach based on which medical condition is suspected. PEA is never even mentioned, even though it is one of the deadly heart rhythms that has a place within the algorithms.

Misc -- I knew I was in trouble when I initially looked inside the back cover of the book (prior to reading) and saw advertisements for the author's other books, which included such noteworthy titles as "Nurses' Romance Series" "How to Make Money Writing" "How to Become a Better Husband" "How to Become a Better wife" "How to Make a Million in Nursing" and my favorite, "The Orgasm".

Do NOT purchase this book. If you really want to avoid getting the (official) American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Provider Manual, pick-up the AHA ACLS pocket reference cards instead of this falsely advertised book. You will save about $20 and have something that is a useful study guide for your ACLS exam.

I hope this review saves someone from the mistake that I just made.

This is not the ACLS Provider Manual.

This is NOT the ACLS Provider Manual. I think the book cover is misleading. This is a simple introductory that is not very well written. Strangely, at the end of the study guide, they included what appears to be someone's nursing school research paper called, "Overview of Critical Care Nursing." It has no helpful information for actual critical care nurses.

A powerful little Treasure.

Things I Don't Want to Talk About is a title that makes you wonder about where these poems will take you and whether you want to be taken there. But you do want to be taken there, it turns out. Carolyn Hill-Bjerke crafts poems that take you on little journeys. Sometimes into yourself, sometimes to places you're unfamiliar with, but she makes you familiar with in her direct, evocative style. But always with a sort of tenderness, and skill, so that as you move along reading them, you gain a sort of trust in her and her heart, so you end up just wanting to keep reading, and feel the emotions that each poem evokes. It's quite powerful. She is truly talented, this book is a little treasure.

Each Poem Worth Mutiple Readings

Carolyn Hill is a gifted poet whose technical abilities match her insight and powers of observation. The poems in this collection are close to perfect. There is nothing in any of the them that does not belong and there is nothing missing. These poems matter. As we journey through her poetic insight, her experience becomes ours. Her subject matter is vast, and the subjects, or what the poems are about, are also entry points into poetry of profound human experience. Reading these poems one is stuck by how they relate to our own lives but suddenly push beyond our experience and thinking, into insights that are unexpected and uniquely her own. A chilling example, among many is "Written From The Living". Seeming to observe Charles Olson's mid 20th century dictum that "One perception must immediately and directly lead to a further perception," her poems are fully and thoroughly developed. And in many of her poems the last perception is the one we as a reader are left to bring to it. Her subjects range from the personal to the public but they flow into each other seamlessly through her high level of consistent poetic rigor. These poems are, blunt, funny, disturbing, comforting and always engaging. There is some tough subject matter. But each and every poem is worth multiple readings.

This has helped me so much

I was so tired of taking medications to make me a happier person. I wanted to overcome depression on my own, My doctor recommended I read a few books about overcoming or beating depression, When I saw this one I knew I had to read it. I really didn't know a whole lot about depression before reading this book,besides that fact that I was diagnosed with depression and I take medication to alleviate the symptoms of Depression. This book explained the difference of depression in men and women, and also listed a number of things that can cause depression. The best way to fight off depression is with quality sleep and I had no idea as I dont get alot of sleep and that could be leading the charge in my depression. I have been off medication for 2 weeks and following the guidelines and steps in this book and I feel so much better.

I've dealt with depression on and off for 20 years with all the deaths in my family and I'm not one to talk about my feelings. I've tried therapists and refused medication so finding this book was great. The guidelines/tips/techniques they give you help in every aspect. Some stuff I never thought about to look at it in the ways the book puts it in. So it's a helpful hand in the fight any type of depression.

I have depression. I live with every day so this book has helped in finding ways for me to beat my depression. It has some great ideas and I think anyone with depression should at least give this book a try or anyone that knows someone with depression should buy this book for that person.
