About the Author
Martez Simmons is a poet, an artist, and a mentor to the youth. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in November 1996, Martez has gone through many trials and tribulations in his life. Throughout his life, he has dealt with family struggles, bullying, death of loved ones, and struggled with suicide and self-infliction. To cope with his emotions and struggles, he sought out a pen and a piece of paper and began to write. With an experience of 11 years under his belt, Martez now writes poetry that depicts and reflects some of his struggles while also making his poems relatable to anyone in some aspect. While growing as a young man, Martez faced his exposure of love and also the problems of society. These problems affected him one way or another and allowed him to write poetry to express how he feels, whether it’s about a young lady who caught his eye or an innocent African-American young man being gunned down in the streets. My Romantic Nightmares welcomes readers into the life and mind of poet Martez Simmons as he exposes his self on a personal level with no strings attached. Readers also witness his encounters of love and experiences he had along his years. Martez also expresses his worst nightmares as if they have become a reality and surfaced to the world. Amazing, Talented, Unique!!

Very intricate and intimate book. A lot of deep meanings and connections to the real world and my own personal life. My absolute favorite book of poetry right now. I will be expecting more from this new poet very soon. Very recommended read!!
