About the Author
Michael G. West, a graduate of Williams College and the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars, has published poems in chapbooks, little magazines and online journals. In addition to poems, he has published five novels, two in the Tommy Shakespear Mystery Thriller and three in the Martha’s Vineyard EcoThriller series. He has worked as a dishwasher, short-order cook, housepainter, shingler, sheetrock taper, private tutor, taxi driver, college professor, freelance book editor, computer programmer, industry analyst and strategy consultant in several countries and on both coasts, north and south, in the U.S. He currently lives year round on Martha's Vineyard, an island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He has two sons, several ex-wives and a dog named Leo.

A Memorable and Evocative Poetry Collection

This is a memorable and original collection of poems from poet/author: Michael G. West.
I was initially drawn to this book by the beautifully designed cover and intriguing title.
A collection that spans the gamut of life's experiences, as seen through the eyes of the author. Evocative, at times haunting, many brought a smile to my face too.
One of my favorites from the collection was:
Island Winter
"The wood stove is quiet: split wood,
Scraps on the hearth, snow melts on the lawn
Somewhere the sun shines. Peach blossoms
Float on a pond. Another fell just now
Yesterday bare tree limbs. Today their plumage
White and full- - when will they take flight?...."
Really enjoyed the scenes, scents and feelings that particular poem conjured up.
I noted that West lives on Cape Cod, one of the places I have always longed to visit and for such a long time. That also added to the enjoyment of this book; why I don't really understand, but it did. Perhaps by providing a small connection to a place that seems to run through my Canadian bones, although I have yet to see it.

Truly a Heartfelt Gift ... Savory

This collection... compact, but not like a little car at all, more like the most expensive Ferrari that whisks you away so fast you grip the leather of your seat as you enter a realm where "being" is served up with rarely combined ingredients concocted into revelation to leave you wishing it was as long as "The Goldfinch". It felt like a consummation of tiny gourmet treats snatched from a drive through dream window for a trip you never planned. I think this is his best yet. I waited a full 12 hours to approach sharing my experience as, I needed to dwell in the absolute admiration of his literary architecture, grounded by the essence that you'd stalk for a Pulitzer, hard core current American life.
