It was funny, but very moving

This book wasn't just about dying for the patient, it also shows how it affects the people around the patient. It was funny, but very moving.
It showed growth of the social worker in her professional & private life. It left you uplifted. It also shows how music can affect ones life in every
situation. A must read.

My dear friend Caroline's book reflecting on her experiences learning to become a social worker in hospice is deeply moving to me. She shares the day to day fears and revelations that come from entering people's lives as they are confronting the grief of saying goodbye to a loved member of their family. This is a world is unknown to most of us - but we all will face. To know that there are engaged people such as Caroline to guide us, as she has been guided by her colleagues and mentors, is a comfort. One memorable passage is when she shares a mantra her learned along the way: "Breathe, reflect, become."

This book gives you fantastic insight into the mystery of hospice care

I thought for sure that I'd find this book depressing and overly clinical. However, I was pleasantly surprised! This book gives you fantastic insight into the mystery of hospice care. Carolyn's sense of humor and witty self reflection keeps things light while giving you a peek into the intimate and personal (not to mention incredibly sad) part of the circle of life. I highly recommend her book to any one with aging parents/family/friends.
